Sound System Owner, DJ & MC - Mikey Don

Born in Brixton in the 60s to a Jamaican household, Mikey Don grew up hearing authentic West Indian Reggae music on the gramophone.

His family, originally from New Green, Mandeville, Jamaica, came to the UK during the Windrush Generation and were very much part of the West Indian community in Brixton.

Growing up listening to Sound Clash tapes and artists such as Alton Ellis, Dennis Brown, Bob Marley, Gregory Isaacs, and other greats, influenced Mikey’s love of music. Although wanting to be a singer, his sights changed towards being a DJ marking the birth of Mikey Don who later went on to create Rough But Sweet Sound System.

Mikey Don, Throughout the years has mastered a wide range of genres from Reggae, to Garage and everything in between.

Lady Boss - Rough But Sweet Sound System

Born to an Irish household living on Railton Road, Brixton in the late 70s, Lady Boss grew up around both the Irish and West Indian communities in SW9. Lady Boss’ love of music evolved from listening to the background ambience at the time, being mainly Roots & Reggae music and being taken to local Shubbeens by her father who himself was very much a part of the West Indian community.

Joining Rough But Sweet three years ago, Lady Boss brings with her a unique skillset which she applies to managing all events, media and promoting the Rough But Sweet Brand.
